Official end of ICCD project

03/16/2007

Officially, the ICCD project ended on March 15th, 2007. Auditing results and final reports are still to be delivered.

All main objectives have been achieved and the ICCD-team considers its work exceptionally successful and fruitful.

  • Two modules, " Self-awareness and images of the "other" in Asian and European cultures" and "Economic development and culture" have been jointly developed and were implemented at all four partner universities. Each module covered 60 hours of lecturing (2 h/week, 15 weeks/term, 2 terms).
  • 323 students were taught in Module 1, "Self-awareness and images of the "other" in Asian and European cultures", 289 in Module 2, "Economic development and culture".
  • Both modules were parted into parts 1 and 2 due to the term structure at most of the participating universities, except for University of Dhaka. 16 class pages, each consisting of 13 sub pages, were developed and published on the internet in order to guarantee co-operation between lecturers and students.
  • Students of the four partner universities were internationally linked via message boards and chat programmes. They successfully exchanged their views concerning module issues and shared work on module related tasks.
  • Two software training sessions were held to provide lecturers with necessary internet skills to run their own class pages.
  • Research and teaching texts central to theory in Cultural Studies and Economic Development have been translated into Bangla, being available for the first time as inner university readers. 200 pages have been translated

A reader with teaching material consisting of a book plus CD Rom will be published this year. All primary contributions have been made and are now in the editing process. The book will be published as:

Häse, Birgit (ed.), 2007, Culture and Economic Development. Connecting Asia and Europe. Frankfurt: IKO.
